Dinner was very delicious. We came to celebrate Brandon's bday last week, we went on a Thursday and they had 5$ nachos ... Nachos had either chicken pork or brisket on them for five bucks how can you go wrong? We ended up getting the buffalo chicken nachos and they were every bit of delicious. We both got ribs with baked beans and Mac n cheese, and really enjoyed it. Portions were huge we only got the half racks and couldn't barely finish them. They also brought us samples of all the sides because we'd never been there before .... Yum. We will def go back, the service was great and the food was too.

Lee Roy Selmon's is a fun sports bar with pretty good food. On our last visit there was a Lightning championship game on most the TV's and the Rays games on a few others. There are TV's everywhere. It is a fun (although loud at times) environment that is great for games. I have liked the majority of the food that I have tried at Lee Roy Selmon's. They have some pretty intense (and huge!) Nachos. I have tried both the pulled pork and the buffalo chicken versions. They are both amazing and could be ordered as a meal. For entrees, I normally get the pulled pork (I ask for a different bbq sauce since I don't like the one they serve with it) or the chicken and waffles. The chicken and waffles are pretty solid. This is one of the few places where I have ordered c&w and not been disappointed. The dish is a little sweet, but I like it. It is served with mashed potatoes that are covered in a corn succotash. The burgers are good, but I don't love the chili that they put on the chili brisket burger. They also have some creative and delicious alcoholic beverages. Overall, I am a fan of Lee Roy Selmon's.

Pretty consistently good service, and good food. I highly recommend the twisted chicken and Tampa tea! Good family restaurant has a bar for sports guys and gals but a sit down restaurant for everyone else. It's exactly what I would expect headed out to dinner - Good service, friendly people, good food. Nothing more, nothing less. Every single time. Pro tip - $5 nachos on Thursday nights. Get them to go - you get more meat :)

This is our favorite go-to restaurant for both lunch and dinner in the Tampa Bay Area! All our out of town friends have fell in love with their down home cooking type food! I highly recommend that you try it!!! From their Twisted Chicken to Mama's Meatloaf...can't beat it for great taste and cooked to order.

We had a nice visit here. Service and food were a bit slow but the food tasted good. The yeast rolls that were brought out were yummy. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Portions were huge. Could only finish half. Chicken was very crispy and moist inside. The savory mashed potatoes and maple bacon corn complimented the dish well and had good flavors as well. Very loud atmosphere. TV's everywhere. Sign up for their Victory Club program and get a free app just for signing up.

My husband and I have been going to this location for several years and have, for the most part, enjoyed the food and service, but the past 3 visits have not been up to their usual satisfactory standards. One of those visits ended up with us leaving after 10 minutes of sitting at a booth waiting for a server and menus; the other two visits the food just wasn't that good: for one meal, my meatloaf dinner arrived with a broken piece of meatloaf with tepid gravy and mashed potatoes. When I told the server about it, she took it away and brought the same plate back 5 minutes later, heated up, but wholly unappetizing at that point. If I had wanted a reheated meal I would have put a HungryMan frozen dinner in the microwave, which actually might have been better. On the plus size, their chicken and waffles is always good, and they do have some tasty signature sides, in particular, the maple cream corn. Even so, it will be a long while until we dine there again.

I'm not a big fan of sports, but this place was nice. My family members have told me how great this place is for a long time. I decided to go there with my dad. We got the "All Pro Platter For Two" so we could try a little bit of everything. The platter has: ribs, pulled pork, chicken and meatloaf. There was not a lot of food on the platter. My dad could have eaten the whole thing himself. But, what it lacked in size it made up for in flavor! The ribs were falling off the bone and very flavorful. They were definitely the best thing we ate there. The pulled pork had a really good flavor. We enjoyed the fries so much and got a second order. Overall, it was pretty good. I look forward to going back. Next time I will just get the ribs.

Went here for the first time Saturday while runnin errands. Drove by and saw the menu but they didn't open for another hour. Menu looked so good we went shopping to kill time until they opened. Was seated in cozy booth and had a terrific waitress. Ordered a couple drafts and was shocked at how reasonable the drink prices are! Started with fried green tomatoes and a cup of the gumbo. Wow, it was so good! The sausage in the gumbo was nice and smokey. Chunky & full of shrimp and okra. The fried green tomatoes weren't those soggy slices you get every where but nice tomatoe chunks in a crispy yet light batter. We lingered a while and waitress found it was our first time there. She brought over a sample (more like a side dish) of their most popular sides. Grits with bacon & cheese, cornbread casserole & smashed potatos with mushroom gravy. Everything was so delicious we had no idea what to order. So we sat there drinking getting hungrier and debating. Ended up getting a spicy fried chicken sandwich and a fried chicken platter with grits. SO good, and what a bargain! $6.99 for the sandwich and fries, $7.99 for the platter. Decided it was so good, and our ambition was at a low point that we'd order dinner to go as well. Ordered the brisket sliders, the pulled pork sliders, a side of cornbread casserole and peach cobbler for dessert. The ever efficient waitress gave us two sides of each barbque sauce knowing we'd never been there before so we could try each one. The food was very good, cobbler was excellant, slaw for the sliders was put on the side so they didn't get soggy. I mean it was perfect! Manager came over to say Hi since he heard it was our first time there. Explained how everything is made from scratch. It was clearly reflected in the food quality! Good old comfort food. So with 4 drinks each, lunch & dinner with dessert to go total was $61! We never get out that cheap for all that time and food. Would definitely recommend it. Loved it, will be back. Only complaint is the college football games blaring loud competing with the music, but one word to the manager and it was quickly rectified. Hey, you can watch the game in the bar area without having to blare it through the dining room!

I always get the same thing at LRS. Pulled pork with cheese bacon grits and cornbread casserole. I don't know why they put anything else on the menu..well, besides beer. Beer is good too.

I've been eating here for several years and have never had a bad meal. The drinks are great too! I recommend going during the new M-F happy hour (Victory Hour as they call it). During that time, they offer great drink and appetizer specials, including their signature fried green tomatoes for only $3. The new strawberry basil martini was great, especially at that price! Lee Roy Selmon's is also a great place for watching games if you're into sports. Ironically, I do not follow sports at all, but love eating and drinking at this restaurant. Lee Roy Selmon's is much more than a sports bar. It's a restaurant with consistently good food and drinks and a pleasant atmosphere. My only complaint is that some of my favorite martinis have been taken off the menu over the last few years. Nevertheless, there are nice bartenders willing to recreate a drink when asked.

As always, food is great and service impeccable. Joe at the bar is great. Drew Martinez, the previous proprietor has moved to the Tampa (Stadium) location - he'll be missed. You have to try the Twisted Southern Chicken....Smashed potatoes, sweet corn in a maple sauce....oh boy. All food here is good...have had most entrees and none disappoint. Please visit and bring the family.... !!!

First off, huge props to Lee Roy Selmon, the best Tampa Bay Buccaneer ever. May he rest in peace. I always enjoy eating at LRS. It is akin to Chili's and Applebee's restaurants with a southern influence thrown in. The fare is based on Momma Selmon's recipes. The Selmon Brothers, all standout football players at Oklahoma have been selling delicious BBQ sauce for many years before the restaurant opened. Everything is good here, but my favorite items are Sweet Heat Fried Chicken - it will stay hot (temperature-wise) for your entire meal somehow, the Smoked BBQ chicken salad is awesome - make sure to ask for the sweet yeast rolls with BBQ butter (it used to come automatically, but I think you have to ask now because of costs - but they are still free), the Mahi Mahi sandwich is fantastic and the best side here is the Cheese and Bacon Grits! Could be 5 stars if it were a little more upscale, a must-eat establishment nonetheless.

Not exactly an impressive experience. The food was just okay (Cedar salmon with broccoli; chicken flatbread and the All American Burger), but the service we received during this experience was definitely substandard. Seriously, the server was too lazy to give my 6 and 8 year old niece and nephew a kid's sized portion of Mac & Cheese - she obviously pulled a simple adult side order (which differs from the children's version in both size and preparation) from the kitchen and tried to pass it off as the entree from the children's menu. The kids didn't want to eat it, and questioned why there were breadcrumbs on the Mac & Cheese. It should be common knowledge that children tend to be picky and are very sensitive to food textures and combinations! Eventually, at our request, the manager on duty kindly corrected the mistake. The server was unapologetic for her mistake. The manager had to come to our table at the end of the meal - again, due to the poor service. He was gracious and did his very best to rectify the situation; hence the 3 stars. Unfortunately, though, the cons outweighed the pros of our experience.

We stopped in for some wings and college basketball. The staff was friendly and brought the wings and a free order of fried green tomatoes timely. (Join their victory club for the free fried green tomatoes.) I enjoyed the jumbo wings with honey bbq sauce and was given a hot towel to clean up after, which was appropriate for the mess on my boyfriend's face. The wings had a good amount of meat and tasted great, but I am still trying to find my favorite wing place in the Tampa Bay.

Took my husband here for lunch. We sat in the bar area. We were immediately greeted by Mike our waiter. The restaurant wasn't very busy but we waited a while for our food. I had the waffle and sweet fried chicken. Husband had the sweet fried chicken with the cheese and bacon grits. The cheese grits were cold but good. The fried chicken and waffle tasted like they came right of the freezer. Overall, the meal was ok. I doubt we will ever go back. The restaurant has changed over the years.

This review is based on their To Go service at lunch. I've recently joined Weight Watchers and I do not eat chicken, beef or pork, so when an office requested lunch from LeRoys, I was a bit perplexed. What could I eat? I decided upon their cedar plank salmon and was pleasantly surprised. It was incredibly good! It even came with the cedar plank underneath the salmon, a nice touch. I felt as though the piece of fish was pretty large and so incredibly tasty and moist. The side of broccoli was steamed with a hint of butter. For $16, it was a bit steep for lunch, but the quality and portion size made it good value. I would definitely return again at lunch time for this meal.

Good food! The wings were excellent and all BBQ items are very good, the sirloin wasn't all that great but never really is anywhere. I'd recommend for the BBQ all day anyday!

The service was excellent. Our server was Angela and she was very friendly and welcoming. She recommended the smoked chicken flatbread and it was AMAZING!! We got there before 4 and got half price apps! 2 delicious apps and 2 sodas for $16. What a deal!! Definitely recommend!!

My girlfriend and I went to lunch on St. Patty's Day. The special was appropriately Corned Beef & Cabbage or a Ruben Grill with Fries which are not normally on the menu. We both opted for the Ruben, which was delicious. Piled high with Corned Beef and dressed perfectly. The pumpernickel-rye swirled bread was perfectly grilled and crisp as well. We were thrilled with our selection and ate every morsel!

I crave the Twisted Southern Chicken! I come here quite a bit with my very health conscious sister. She recommends the salmon salad. The restaurant is attached to mall, but doesn't feel like your eating at the mall. It's updated and clean. There is an option to sit outside on the patio. For drinks, they have a full service bar and the drinks specials are based our sporting events. I had a house margarita and it was nothing special, but still good. For food, their menu is mostly southern style foods. I usually get the twisted southern chicken (small portion), which is so scrumptious! It's grilled chicken with mashed potatoes, corn, bacon, maple sauce, sour cream, and diced tomatoes. Those combination of flavors are matched to perfection. I also like to get a small salad with balsamic dressing to go along with my meal. One time I stepped out of my comfort zone and had a half rack of ribs with two sides. The meat from the ribs fell off the bone and sauce was succulent. I had the cheesy bacon grits and the corn casserole for my sides. I thoroughly enjoyed them both. The service was great and on top of everything. This one of my regular spots even though I don't go there for sports. I'll be going back!

Gumbo was outstanding and the salad calmed down the spicy fire! We enjoy the sports atmosphere and the bank of televisions. One of our favorites for Father's/Mother's Day. Hot towels are a good touch for BBQ clean-up. Recommended.

Not horrible, but not the greatest place I've ever been to. Coupled with the extremely long wait for EVERYTHING when the restaurant wasn't particularly busy made this a bad selection for our group of 5. (No children) The food was decent. There wasn't anything that was memorable, but nothing that was inedible either. The menu actually makes you believe there are multiple wonderful choices, so perhaps there are some gems on there. The best part of the meal was the Smoking Tea for two. I had a pleasant surprise as my drink came out to me smoking from the dry ice they put in the bottom of the large glass. The presentation was new and the drink was tasty.

Good food and $4 Sam Adams. Can't beat that! Good choices for sauces and sides. Their pulled pork is moist and tender. The sandwich is the size of a small birthday cake. It is so good. Gotta have the rolls with the BBQ butter on them . Oh dear!

Unfortunately Selmons has cut there menu to the detriment of diners. The numerous side dishes, a mainstay of Southern cuisine, have been reduced to a small number of popular sellers. Greens are off the menu! Seriously? The entrees have suffered also. They have lost the essence of the original Selmons which I had the pleasure of being a part of as a chef. Lackluster and bland are the way I would describe my meal and my Wife's.

Had dinner here on December 5th. Went here due to its convenient location as we were out shopping. It was reasonably busy, but we did not have to wait and there were open tables. Waitress was very experienced and professional. We got talking to her, and she clearly had a lot of experience at various restaurants and understood what she needed to do to "up sell" the overall meal. Candidly, she should probably be working at a higher end restaurant given her skills. The food was so-so. As the Yelp rating says "I've experienced better." It is doubtful that we will go back.

Been wanting a burger, so decided to check out this place on a cool Florida evening. My husband came with me. The place has a lot of tvs all over the place and is perfect for watching games. It's sports themed as well. Our server, Gabby was fantastic! Sweet and knowledgeable. Very friendly. As "first timers," we got complimentary side samplers. Because we came early, we benefited from 2 4 1 wines and they had several $3 appetizers and $5 nachos, which we skipped. I craved a burger, so I ordered American cheeseburger. My hubby ordered baby back ribs. Both came out promptly and were delicious. My burger was juicy and perfectly cooked to medium. The ribs were falling off the bone. Cheesy grits on the side of the ribs were tasty. We both came out full and very satisfied. I can't wait to come back there again to try more dishes!

This was our first time at a Leeroy Selmon's. We ordered the smoked chicken salad and the chicken bowl. The chicken on both meals was dark meat instead of breast meat. The meat was ice cold on the salad, and cool on the chicken bowl. We ordered peach cobbler with ice cream for dessert. When it was brought out, we were told that they are out of ice cream. Why not tell us that before dropping it at the table so we could decide if we still wanted it? Service was good otherwise and food came quickly, but we will not be returning after these meals since there are dozens of other better restaurants in the area.

How well Lee Roy Selmon's will please you might depend on what you go there for. Judging by the menu and reviews I expected great Southern chicken and BBQ, but this was not to be. The standard house special chicken dish was dry and thin on meat. They give you two huge servings as if to apologize for how little meat is inside the breading, but most bites were still dry and full of breading no matter how much they gave me. The breading was also crispy and bland, the opposite of traditional Southern breading which is usually flavored liberally with spices. The mashed potatoes were heavily flavored with garlic and the gravy was mushroom based, a combination I found more Italian than Southern and not particularly to my taste. It was quality food however, much more-so than the chicken. Drinks were fairly standard, I didn't try appetizers or desserts. I tried their BBQ sauces in desperation for something to moisten my chicken with. I chose the Carolina Sweet sauce, which was adequate. It was more of a Memphis style sauce with a kick than a traditional sweet sauce in my opinion, but it tasted high quality. On some good pulled pork I could imagine that being a winning combination, and I will update the review should I ever return and try it. The restaurant was very sports and bar oriented, which I did not expect. That's my fault, as I was led to the place by searching for Southern food restaurants and not from advertising. Remember kids, as nice as an allmenus.com link on Google Maps might be, it tells you nothing about ambiance. If you're looking for a place to sit back and watch the game while getting some hot pulled pork sandwiches this might suit you a lot better. For a night out with good Southern food I found it completely lacking.

  • Tracey R.

The food was very average. The rib eye was overly fatty. My crispy chicken salad was a lot of chopped iceberg lettuce with only a little bit of chicken. The atmosphere was good and the service was good. The beer was really cold.

A great set up for watching sports with the most uncomfortable seating ever. Very accommodating and friendly staff. Pretty good food. Not the best of anything I've ever had, but solid. Definitely a place you can count on for yumminess. I had the mile high pulled pork sandwich that was actually about 2-3 inches high. Not quite a mile. The pork was very juicy and tender, but not very smokey, the sauce was vinegar style and complimentary to the sandwich. It also had pickles on it. They put the sauce on for you there. The bun was excellent. Fries were good, a little over seasoned. My boyfriend ordered the brisket sandwich and he liked it. I think the pork was better. We also ordered the deviled eggs, which were delicious, but not quite worth $5.99. Overall I'd recommend this chain of restaurants for sports watching a good eats and excellent service, but beware, the seats are hard and make it difficult to last through a whole game. We left wondering if it is on purpose to encourage turn over??

I'm not a big NFL fan, so did not realize that Lee Roy Selmon is a local gridiron legend. Oops. If I'd known that, I probably would've guessed that when we chose this place for lunch, we'd be walking into a sports bar. I loved the glass panes that showcased each of the different arenas in Tampa, super cool and definitely different. I bet this is a fun place to watch a game. We got free fried green tomatoes for checking in on foursquare, which was awesome because I was planning on ordering it anyways. (Too bad this promotion has been discontinued.) We also got the gumbo, sliders, queso rockets, and the sweet heat fried chicken with cheese and bacon grits. Overall, the food was decent, but not spectacular. I liked the queso rockets and grits the best. Gumbo was a bit too salty, sliders a little underwhelming, and the fried green tomatoes were a little too oily.

I was here for a group event. The food was good and our servers did there best to stay on top of everything. Based on tips and reviews I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was very tasty. They have some great drink specials during football games. Others at the table had chicken and waffles which looked great, the chopped chicken salad and Cedar Plank Shrimp. I look forward to visiting again and trying other things on the menu.
